A surprizingly good frame for little money, October 18, 2011 This review is from: Nashbar X Aluminum Cyclocross Frame (Misc.) I built a bike using the Nashbar X Aluminum Cyclocross frame. I am very satisfied with the frame as a whole. Honestly the frame is inexpensive so my expectations were low, but this frame has exceeded my expectations. I have used it as a winter bike, a loaded touring bike, and as its original purpose as a cyclocross bike. The frame is strong and has done everything I asked.
The clearance for the crankset is very close. My cyclocross double 46 tooth crankset barely fit without much room to spare. You would not be able to go with a larger double crankset. It fits my road triple cranksets (53/39/30) just fine without any clearance problems.
You can not go wrong with this frame unless you expect too much. It will not be as light or comfortable as a high end carbon frame. On the road I am reminded that the frame is made from aluminum, but then I remember how much I paid for the frame. I got exactly what I paid for, and would buy it again!
