I was a die-hard Silca Track Pump user. I spent years hoarding hard to find leathers and grommets to keep my pump in top working order. No more. I have found Lezyne. The name I still strain to pronounce, but the quality I am savoring with relish. This pump is the best I have ever used. The bore is machined and provides unsurpassed compression. It pumps efficiently and comfortably. The extra long hose stores neatly up and over the pump handle then secures to a nest in the base. This feature serves a dual purpose of holding the pump handle down. The chuck is easily switched between schraeder and presta. This is done by screwing the chuck onto the valve, which some may view as archaic, but is quite practical. It is quite secure and allows the manufacturer to use simple and readily available spares as grommets, and not proprietary plastic parts that will break and become unavailable in a couple of years. If you are riding a road bike with Presta valves, this is the pump to have. The head is simple in construction and easy to attach to the valve. It's metal and screws down on the valve stem and seals with O-rings so there is absolutely zero leaking. All the other pumps that I've investigated (Topeak, Serfas and Planet Bike) use inferior rubber clamping mechanisms on most of their models that will either leak when new or start to leak and/or pop off the valve at high pressures after a little wear. Many of these use a plastic dual head from the same supplier that is just flat out inferior. Not here! The CNC is also beautiful in construction and asthetics. I got the red high gloss CNC and my wife actually said that is looks like a piece of modern "furniture." Using our other pumps she couldn't get the pressure she was after because with all of the weight of her petite frame pressing down on the pump, her feet would literally lift off the ground, preventing inflation to the desired... Very nice floor pump, May 5, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Alloy Floor Drive (Misc.) I have a Planet Bike Versair Floor Pump that works well except that the nozzle is not a screw on type and I have lost more skin than I care to think of trying to remove it and have damaged one tube in the process, so I was on a search for a screw on nozzle type floor pump.
This pump is very well constructed and should last forever and I love how the hoze keeps the handle in place for storage.
A few downsides however:
- The legs you stand on should be a tad larger. It is a floor pump, so bigger is better. It wobbles a bit too much for my tastes.
- Perhaps the barrel should be bigger to allow more air in each stroke. For some reason I cannot explain, it is more difficult to push air into my tires than it was with the Planet Bike pump.
- The twist action of the flip-nozzle should be smoother. You cannot just screw the nozzle on or it will twist the pump's tube, you have to hold the nozzle with two hands to keep the tube from twisting.
