Worth it's weight!, July 26, 2010 This review is from: Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer (Sports) My sister and I went together on this. We do a lot of traveling to dog agility trials, and since she bought a Toyota Highlander Hybrid, the roof is just too high to safely load much in a cargo box. I have fairly long arms, but the first time I tried to load a cargo box on the Highlander it was ridiculous. Soon after she bought the car, she told me she was thinking about buying this trailer. I thought she was nuts to consider spending over 2 grand to haul the cargo box.
The first time I used this thing, I was sold! The trailer is so light it's simple to unhook it and pull it where you need it.

Simply the Best., October 12, 2011 By This review is from: Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer (Sports) We've had this modular trailer with 78 inch crossbars for several months. it's the best in its class. It is pricy but it fills specific requirements. It stores upright against the wall taking up minimum space in the garage of our townhouse. Takes about ten minutes to reconfigure it for use.
Packaging and Delivery: Came in two heavy duty boxes with detailed, easy to understand instructions. One person can manage each box. Delivery took about seven days.
Build Quality and Assembly: Build quality is first-class. All parts are machined to exacting specs and all parts go together with exacting tolerances. We inspected every part against the parts list and put them out on a large flat surface. We purchased a torque wrench to insure bolts were torqued correctly. Also had to purchase large 21 and 22MM Sockets for the wheel nuts. Instructions were easy to follow, no parts were missing and construction took myself and my wife about two hours. Trailer mounts to a... Read more

Great trailer with a caveat, February 16, 2012 This review is from: Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer (Sports) I bought the 78" version of this trailer from a local kayak shop in May of 2011 so I could avoid lifting boats onto the top of my camper and/or truck. I also bought the spare tire and wheel, the kickstand, and the tongue extension as one of my boats is 21'6" long and the spec says it can haul boats up to 22' with the tongue extension but only up to 17 feet without it. I usually just haul a single 17 footer but occasionally want to carry two boats and one or two bikes.
On a recent trip of about 600 miles round trip I noticed that the tongue was sagging and when I got home I took the tongue extension out as it was bent significantly. The tongue extension consists of a piece of square aluminum tubing that matches the trailer tongue and a piece of square steel tubing telescoped inside the aluminum. It is installed by sliding the steel tube into the tongue and putting 2 bolts through a pair of predrilled holes in the tongue and the steel tube. Assembly was very easy. It was the... Read more
