6 of 6 people found the following review helpful Decent Rack for the Money, June 18, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Highland 1375100 SportWing Hitch Mounted 2 Bike Carrier (Automotive) We bought this rack for two full suspension mountain bikes. We have a platform rack on the back of the RV, but were looking for something lightweight for around town bike hauling. The installation directions clearly state that the larger of the two bikes should be on the side of the rack closest to the vehicle. The picture on the box clearly shows the bigger bike closer to the vehicle. If both bikes are approximately the same size, you will have problems with the bikes interfering with each other. If this occurs, try lowering one end of one or both of the bikes. Also, if you have a pickup truck with a 2.5 inch receiver and the 2 inch insert, you'll have problems with the shims provided to convert the rack from a 1 1/4 to a 2 inch receiver. First you must go to Lowe's for a longer bolt. Then you must take duct tape and wrap it around the shims and the part that goes into the receiver. Use enough duct tape to decrease the wobble you're seeing. Finally, 2 bungee cords will be... Read more
6 of 6 people found the following review helpful Best Solution for the bucks, May 13, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Highland 1375100 SportWing Hitch Mounted 2 Bike Carrier (Automotive) While there is some wiggle between the mount and the hitch, for the money, this rack cannot be beat. The wiggle is indiscernible on the highway, but we spend a lot of time on dirt roads, so it becomes more of a speed factor. It's easy to set up and remove. The rubber wheel straps are a real plus as is the way the bike mounts on the rims rather than the frame.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Definately not ideal for a 2" hitch receiver, May 20, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Highland 1375100 SportWing Hitch Mounted 2 Bike Carrier (Automotive) So I know this item is intended for a 1 1/4" hitch receiver and comes with adapter plates so it fits into a 2" receiver. Other reviewers mentioned it can be wobbly, but I was surprised when getting it and setting it up how unstable it is when using the 2" adapters. Once I mounted the 2 bikes onto it the whole thing tilted about 20% to one side because the adapter plates still do not even come close to giving a snug fit in a 2" receiver. Also the bolt that is included to use with a 2" receiver only makes it 1/2 way into the nut provided (not long enough)so I could easily see the whole thing falling off the back of my Enclave when going down the road, so I had to go to Lowes and buy a 3 1/2" x 1/2" bolt to do the job. Overall not a terrible unit for the price and the build quality is about what I would expect for the $80 I spent, but looking back I wish I had just spent the extra money and bought one that is really designed for a 2" receiver.
